December 3, 1934 - November 4, 2023

In loving memory ~

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Michael Friesen (Mike), devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

Michael was born to Jacob and Anna Friesen in Hague, Saskatchewan on December 3, 1934. He was the 7th of thirteen children.

He met the love of his life, Ann Braun in the spring of 1957 and they were married two years later, on June 21, 1959, and were devoted partners for 64 years. During his life, he was blessed with 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mike laboured in many fields of industry throughout his life, but his passion was for serving God through Bible Study and service to family and the churches he attended. He served as a deacon and elder, then later, at the age of fifty, Mike felt called into full-time ministry.

He graduated from Miller College of the Bible in Saskatchewan and pastored primarily in that Province.

He moved with Ann to Hope, BC in 1996 where partnered in a local Christian ministry, SENT, until his retirement in 1998. His retirement years were spent enjoying life with family around him, until his passing.

Mike embodied the man God called him to be in Micah 6:8." He has shown you, oh man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Anna Friesen, parents-in-law, Peter and Anna Braun, his 9 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Ann Friesen, his 4 children and their spouses, Michael (Sue), Anna Marie, Liz (James) and Mark (Lisa), 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Ann Giesbrecht.

He died as he lived, in a loving relationship with his family and his Saviour.
