In loving memory ~

Paul Rex McMullan, formerly of Hope, B.C., passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Eden Intermediate Care Home in Chilliwack, B.C., at the age of 85. Paul was born August 24, 1937, in York, Ontario, and attended Upper Canada College. In 1961, he graduated from Trinity College at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (English), then in 1964, with a Bachelor of Sacred Theology. Paul also studied music, including piano, organ, and voice. He became an ordained minister in 1964 and his first assignment was at St Mary's Church in Kerrisdale (Vancouver) during the same year. In 1967, Paul became incumbent of All Saints, Agassiz and St Peter, Rosedale. In 1971, he became a member of the clergy team of the Fraser-Cheam parish (Sardis, Chilliwack, Rosedale, Agassiz, Hope and Yale), residing in Hope. Later he would also be a part of a shared ministry arrangement with Hope United Church. He resigned as Rector of Christ Church, Hope, in August 1987. Paul continued ministry for the next 10 years in the town of Hope, B.C., where he resided. Paul loved classical music especially Gilbert and Sullivan and the Irish Tenors. He took great pride in the musicals he organized with benefits going to the Ronald McDonald House. While living at Logan Manor he enjoyed hosting musical afternoons for his friends from his vast collection of CD's.

In lieu of flowers, Paul wished for donations to Fighting Blindness Canada, which researches retinitis pigmentosa, the disease that took his eyesight.

A memorial service will be held for Paul McMullan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th at Hope United Church, 310 Queens Street. Reception to follow.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Logan Manor and Eden Intermediate Care Home for the care they provided.
