CORBETT, Roy


H. Roy Corbett, born November 26th 1925, passed into the presence of his Heavenly Father on March 11, 2009 in Hope, BC.


Roy was raised in Straiton, BC and in the 1940's, with his four brothers, formed the Corbett Lumber Co. in Hope. In 1954 he married the love of his life, Betty. As a businessman and contractor he was actively involved in the development of Hope. Roy served the community as a commissioner, alderman, and then mayor from 1967 to 1978. Along with his wife Betty, he served as a member of the Grace Baptist Church.


His life has been a blessing to his wife Betty, daughter Zibby, sons William (Rhea), John (Jacquie), David (Esther) and Paul (Andrea), 12 grandchildren Roy, Jessica, Luke, Andrhea, Catie, Rachel, Jane, Susie, Josiah, Rebekah, Samuel and Joshua, his sisters Lela Barker and Betty (Gordon) Saunders, brothers Norman (Louise) and Vern (Joann) Corbett, and many other relatives and friends.


Roy was respected for his good humor, common sense and integrity by those who knew him.


A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21st 2009, 1:30pm at the Grace Baptist Church, 949 3rd Avenue, Hope, B.C. with Pastor Will Corbett officiating.
