April 2, 1934 - December 19, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shigeru Shinden. Shigeru was known for his sense of humour and generosity, and for always having a smile on his face.
Shigeru is survived by his loving wife Ritsuko and sons James and Henry, and brother Hirofumi and sister Noe in Japan.
Shigeru was born and raised in Kagoshima, Japan, the eldest son of Hideyoshi and Fue Shinden. It was in Kagoshima where he met and married Ritsuko and immigrated to Canada in the 1960's.
Shigeru spent many years in the logging industry where he passed on his knowledge to a few generations of co-workers.
After retiring, he continued to enjoy gardening, trips to the casino, visiting friends and loved ones, and always Ritsuko's delicious cooking.
The family would like to thank the many merchants and friends that kindly assisted Shigeru during his life in Hope, as well as the physicians and nurses at Fraser Canyon Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Koden gratefully declined.
