August 23, 1947 - October 15, 2023

Ted Hope, more commonly known to everyone as Buzz, passed away unexpectedly at his home the morning of October 15th.

Funeral services were held at the Yale Community Centre on October 19th, with a traditional burial at the Hope Family Cemetery at the Stullawheets Reserve near Dogwood Valley.

Buzz was survived by daughters Terina and Lisa; grandchildren Kaine (Kayla), Talon, and Megan (Dylan); siblings Larry, Didi (Gary), Bob, Evert (Kathy), Dave, Moe (David), and Perry; partner Juanita, and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

All who knew Buzz felt like instant friends and, because of his generous nature, many felt adopted as a part of his family. He had a way of making everyone in his circle feel important and taken care of.

Buzz grew up in Yale and spent his entire life fishing and hunting, and he taught his grandchildren and numerous other family members these skills, too. He was highly respected as a community member in the Hope area. Buzz was also known as an expert-level faller, and spent many years working as a logger in the US as a young man.

He was a true Knowledge Keeper and was serving Yale First Nation as a member of the Elders Group.
His absence is felt deeply and profoundly.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported us during this difficult time - first responders, friends who traveled to spend time with us, the cooks and fire keepers who took care of us in the week leading up to the funeral, and the good people at the Yale Community Centre.

It's difficult times like these that remind us we are surrounded by love.

Thank you.
