The British Columbia Pharmacy Association (BCPA) has chosen local pharmacist Lindsay Kufta for its New Practitioner Award in this year's BC Excellence in Pharmacy Awards.

That award celebrates a pharmacist's contributions to the profession within their first five years of practice.

Kufta works in the Hope Pharmasave, and was unavailable for immediate comment because she had left work. However, her manager Michael McLoughlin said he was "thrilled," and expected Kufta to win this.

"I kind of thought she would," he said. "All the things she's done, almost nobody does in their first four, five years."

She will receive her award in Whistler on May 26.
