Chilliwack’s Dawson Rodin is celebrating a championship today after his Marian University men’s hockey squad won the Harris Cup.

The trophy is given to the best team in the NCAA Div 3 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).

Rodin’s crew beat the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) by a 4-1 count Saturday to complete a sweep of the best-of-three final. They opened the series with a 3-1 win Friday.

Rodin didn’t see action in either game. The 23-year-old served as the backup to former Bonnyville Pontiacs stopper Colby Muise and only appeared in two regular season/playoff games, posting a 3.34 goals-against average and 91.7 save percentage.

Marian U has won three Harris Cup championships in the program’s history, but this is the team’s first title since 2002.
